We are a Holding Company investing across public equities, bonds, and private equity. We seek to partner with exceptional operators in niche industries and help them scale revenue, operations, and profitability. CL1 Partners assists its portfolio companies with strategy, finance, legal, HR, management, and accounting. We are a long-term business partner — we do not acquire stakes in businesses with the intention to sell.
Our mission is to help talented entrepreneurs and managers build the business they deserve to build. We acquire controlling or minority stakes in companies (cash-in or cash-out) and bring a fresh perspective to the business. Leveraging our experience in investing, finance, accounting, and operations, we assist managers in streamlining their back-office and operations.
CL1 also serves as a source of long-term capital. We are keen to continue investing additional capital in our portfolio companies where we see the potential to continue scaling and improving returns. Our diversified portfolio, focus on cashflow, and an exposure to highly liquid instruments (public equities and bonds) means we tend to have excess cash to deploy into our operating companies.
Our Team
Ilya Kan
Ilya has worked as an analyst at Foxhaven Asset Management, a $4+ billion hedge fund based in Charlottesville, Virginia in the United States. After Foxhaven, he has been a private investor and consultant before starting CL1 Partners. He was among the winners of the Alta Fox Stock Pitch competition at Harvard University.
Anuar Izbergen
Anuar worked at Deloitte across its Almaty, Moscow, and New York offices. He has served as CFO across major holding companies including Almaly Holding and Line Group. Anuar brings extensive accounting, finance, and management experience. He is a graduate of KIMEP University.
